NOAH CRITES

Noah Crites studied Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear at London College of Fashion for two years before returning to his home, San Francisco, California, to pursue a real career in fashion. His practice spans photography, graphic design, and fashion design/illustration - disciplines that have inspired him and been a calling since childhood. They are kept mostly separate in their processes, but unified by a consistent set of values: quality, effort, expression, and the relationship between intention and freedom.

His photographic work is delivered on medium format film and large-format digital, with a focus on high fashion, landscapes, and portraiture. Many of his photoshoots are of garments he made and/or styled himself. Prints are available for purchase on large or small-scale glossy paper, and tailored shoots are available through commission. Crites's graphic design practice runs in parallel - brand logos through digital illustration, creative direction, and print work for art institutions and independent companies.

Illustration work ranges from eccentric pen-and-ink studies to various paint strategies with acrylic and watercolor. Noah has been sketching clothes and creating art by hand since he could hold a pencil - incorrectly, that is. His personal illustration practice is driven by an interest in archival fashion, anatomy of the female body, and pop culture. Commissions are available on small and large-scale cardstock in pen-and-ink, pencil, acrylic paint and watercolor inks.
